Donate Us Some Of Kroger's Cash

We were just approved as a non-profit organization in the Kroger Community Rewards Program.
If you are a Kroger shopper and have their Rewards Card,
you can donate money to support GSMC.
Just open their website (Kroger.com), go to the bottom of their homepage
and click on the link, "Kroger Community Rewards Program."
Follow the instructions to register
and be sure to specify the Genealogical Society of Marion County.
[We can sure use the cash to support our library and scanning programs. Thanks a bunch!]

GSMC Needs Volunteer Indexers

The Genealogical Society of Marion County has a number of scanned files
that would be more useful if they had an accompanied alphabetical index.
They have about 25 +pages like the first image below,
and about 100 names like the second image below.
Volunteers can index the files from their home.
Contact us if you are willing to assist on this project. Thanks a bunch.

Need A Native American Locator Map?

GSMC received two copies of the below map,
a 3' x 5' glossy diagram of all the Native American tribal lands in the U.S.
The other side is the Alaska locations.
They were donated by member Kerry Steiner and are a product of the U.S. Census Bureau.
We will be adding one copy to our library collection, but the other copy may be up for grabs.
Contact us or drop in on a Wednesday and we will discuss it.

Whatever Happened To The State Archives??

Indiana seems to have lost a building; the new Indiana State Archives Building to be exact.
The money was appropriated years ago;
we found out the postage-stamp site downtown a couple of years ago;
we saw the architectural plans in a meeting a while back.
We have heard nothing about anyone moving any dirt, pouring concrete, or erecting steel.
Did someone forget that part?
The world wonders...

 This is the Tennessee State Archives; will ours be anywhere similar?
