CIDIG Group Presents Zoom Session Dec 3

The Johnson County Public Library is pleased to announce the final

DNA & Genealogy Discussion Group

Saturday, December 3, 10 am to noon via Zoom.

This series is presented in memory of beloved presenter, friend and colleague, Denise Anderson-Decina (1953-2022).

DNA Testing: More than Autosomal

So far this year we have focused on autosomal DNA testing. In December, join us as Angela Guntz, with the Central Indiana DNA Interest Group (CIDIG), focuses on the other two tests – Y DNA and mitochondrial DNA.  When should we consider these tests and what can we learn from our results?

After the program, Angela will answer questions on genetic genealogy subjects. Attendees are encouraged to share their experiences using DNA testing in their genealogical research.

Please register for this free program by calling the White River Branch at 317-885-1330 or by visiting www.pageafterpage.org/events . A link to the Zoom program will be emailed to all registrants the day before the program. Please make sure to include your email address with your registration.

Also, keep an eye out for Black Friday sales.  DNA testing companies typically offer their best prices of year.

Great Source for WW2 Information

If you had a family member who served in WW2 (or Korea or Vietnam),
and you would like to talk about their experience or ask questions about military details,
you should visit the Roundtable.
There are lots of folks who were veterans and who will know the answers to your questions.
See you there!

New African American Church Files Added

The St. Paul Methodist Church was one of those black community elements
displaced in the 1970's by the expansion of IUPUI university.
They bought a building and moved to the Brightwood area.
St. Paul Brightwood Church operated there until the congregation dissolved in 2017.

Good CCC Resource Added To Our Library

Many families had a son in the CCC in the 1930's,
and this new asset shows how that program was organized and operated.
All those CCC guys (Yes, Yours!) had a personnel file that is now in the
National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis.
You should order your boy's file now and learn more about his experiences.

Born In City Hospital?

If your family had any contact with Indianapolis City Hospital,
some of these nurses may have had them as patients.
A genealogist in California sent us this great class photo,
and our website is probably the only one in the country with this material.

Really Pricy Shortridge Annual!!

I noticed this yearbook for sale at the Half Price Books location on E. 86th street in Indy.
We can make you a deal for way less than 5 big ones.
Don't know where they got their information.
