Immigrants' Scenery Leaving?

If your folks came through Ellis Island [background],
this is the view they saw when they got off the boat.
Lady Liberty must have looked really good.
If the ocean levels rise as many scientists predict,
much of this will disappear.
Maybe you should visit New York harbor while it's still there!!

Wednesdays Holiday Closures

Being open on Wednesdays has a few flaws, namely a few conflicts on those days.
Our GSMC Library will be closed Dec. 25th and Jan. 1st,
so our members and friends can enjoy some Holiday action.
Our great website databases are available 24/7/365,
so take advantage of them during all closed hours.

We wish you and your family the best at the end of 2024
and through all of 2025.

From all of us here at GSMC!!

Hoosier Forest Black Cemetery Restoration

This cemetery is not in Marion County, but we are always pleased
when any historic cemetery gets restored.
This article was in the Indpls. Star on Dec. 8th.
Check it out at any IPL Branch or at the GSMC Library/

New Perry Methodist Resource

We just added a great Perry Township church file to our databases.
Barry Browning, President of the Perry Township/Southport Historical Society,
brought in the original manuscript for our inspection.
When we demonstrated our new Book Scanner, he sat right down and made us a digital copy.
Now that was an outstanding service for Marion County researchers.
It's available for free in our Research Set #1 under "Churches."
[The booklet contains a 2,770 name members list from 1849 to 2024.]
Much obliged, Barry!!

Any Company Newspapers At Home?

Anyone around the Marion County Genealogy and Pack Rat Association
will confess to being always on the lookout for more research materials.
Our focus right now is company newspapers stashed in your attic, basement, or garage.
Even a handful of issues will be a big help.
Two choices: You donate then to our library or allow us to digitize them.
Now is that a great deal or what? Contact us!!
