Steve Barnett Profiles Civil War Families

Marion County Historian Steve Barnett (and GSMC Director) wrote a great article about our new lineage society, the Civil War Families of Marion County. The article appears in the July 22 issue of the Weekly View newspaper. We have the full article in our library [open Wednesday 11-3] or the paper is still around in some of your favorite pick up sites. Thanks, Steve!

Museum Exhibits At Hancock County

Advanced registration is required and once registered, participants will receive the link through email to join the program online.

Our smaller museum creates many exhibits that are in a small scale for themed cases. Each season we try to feature one of our collections for the public. This is a process that we are highlighting in a video to be shown during this webinar. You will be introduced to our facilities see an exhibit idea being born, and watch us go through the steps to create a featured exhibit.

This video was made possible by a grant from the Hancock County Tourism Commission. We thank them for letting us promote our mission.

A Most Successful Conference

GSMC wrapped up the two-day Midwestern Roots Conference this afternoon
and all considered the event a winner.
Volunteers Janet Mobley, Kim Smith, Barbara Cline-Hutchison, Ron Darrah,
and Barry Levitt all contributed to the successful Society booth.
The group mixed and matched shifts and helped Conference attendees
with query answers and advice.
GSMC sold a number of books and CD's and handed out numerous schedules and fact sheets.
Ours was the only Indiana County Society booth in the vendor hall,
and our outreach activity was noticed and appreciated.
