Delve into the art of historical inquiry as we explore the intricacies of research methods and interpretation. From uncovering untold narratives to deciphering historical truths, this presentation offers insights into the dynamic process of doing history.

David G. Vanderstel, Ph.D. has been a practicing historian for over four decades, specializing in 19th century US history, Dutch immigration, Indiana and Indianapolis history, and public history. He has served as senior historian at Conner Prairie; senior research associate at The Polis Center at IUPUI; adjunct assistant professor in the IUPUI History Department; and worked as a consultant on numerous projects related to the teaching of history and historic preservation.

Marion County Vet In The Family?

Discharged military members from WW1 to the present were instructed to  
record their discharge information at their local county court to make it "secure and official."
These two ledgers below are in the Marion County Recorder's Office 
on the 7th floor of the City-County Building, just lying on top of some filing cabinets.
If your guy or gal is part of that group from 1925 to 1964, 
you may want to take a look in these to see if there are details you don't have.

State Library Lunch and Learn May 9

This session is an introduction to the Indiana State Library’s Digital Collections which include a vast range of gems such as historic state documents, rare manuscripts, and the vast collection of Indiana-related maps.

Where and when: Indiana State Library History Reference Room, May 9, 2024 12 p.m.-1 p.m.  Register here.  This lunch and learn will be eligible for 1 LEU.
