Our library gets many great visitors

Last Wednesday, President Barb Hutchinson (left) shares a happy moment

with guests Marlena Linne and Hancock County researcher Greg Murphy.

Hello Barb,  I enjoyed our conversation on the phone, thank you for offering to help me with Isaac Martin Murphy and also looking into my Maroskey family in Franklin Twp., Marion Co. IN.  Your help is very much appreciated!                        Kind Regards, Greg Murphy

Also adding the memorial for my paternal 2nd great-grandfather, Anthony Henry Maroskey, he and brother Charles Maroskey (Maroska) first settled in Franklin Twp. Marion County, Indiana.  Both families migrated to Hancock County, Indiana.  I lived on the Maroskey farm, 1/2 mile north of Mohawk in Buck Creek Twp. until I was 5 years old (1953).  Dad bought a house in Mohawk where I was raised until I "ran away from home" at 21 yrs. old, as my dad would say.

Much Better Resource Center

We revised our methodology materials recently to make them more relevant and accurate.
We picked the year 2000 as the oldest books to keep on the shelf.
The only exception was certain categories of material that older was better.
Check this Resource Center the next time you visit.
We think you will be pleased.

Library Has Expanded IPS Section

We have reset the Indianapolis Public Schools section of
our genealogy library in anticipation of new materials soon to come.
We will visit a large collection of IPS archival
documents next week to see what we can acquire.
Some extra volunteers would help--contact us!

If you are researching Marion County, visit us and browse our collection.

Townships Have Dedicated Sections

We have just created a dedicated shelving section
for each of the nine Marion County townships.
We also included growth space for each township as we expand our collection.
We can grow our townships resources in several ways,
especially by donations received from genealogists and historians. (Hint, Hint!!)

Many thanks to all those dedicated Marion County genealogists.

GSMC Opens Data Files

The GSMC Board of Directors voted to open all
of the Society's Marion County research files to the public. This major change
resulted from a desire to have these unique files
available to as many genealogists as possible.
Below is the Home Page tab that can be used to open these files.
The Society hopes that this new policy will create many new Marion County researchers.
