The M. C. Health Department has a new building under construction 

adjacent to their present building at 3838 N. Rural St. 

After opening in 2026, the Birth and Death records service 

will move to the new facility.

AI and the Revolutionary War Pension Files

We are excited to announce that through a partnership with FamilySearch, AI extracted text for all 2,322,137 pages of the Case Files of Pension and Bounty-Land Warrant Applications Based on Revolutionary War Service, ca. 1800 - ca. 1912 is now available in the National Archives Catalog.  FamilySearch used 30,000 pages of pensions transcribed by our Citizen Archivists to teach their AI language model how to transcribe this 19th Century cursive writing.  The Partner Contributed transcriptions generated by their AI language model for the entire series will now be available as Extracted Text in the National Archives Catalog.

Great New Marriage Resource Added

Thanks to our "SuperVolunteerCorps" GSMC has digitized 

the first three microfilm rolls of Marion County marriage records.

To find specific records you should use the WPA Marriage Indexes 

found on Ancestry and various other sites. 

You should look at the two far right columns (see below) to find the Book and Page.

Our collection only has books 1-2-3.

 

If you do everything right, you should find an entry like this one.

If any of your folks belonged to an organization in 1898-1899, 

there's a good chance they are in this little jewel. 

The actual book is on the shelf in our library.
