New Members Resource With 15,000+ Names from 1888

After at least a year of volunteer work, we just yesterday added the 1888 Indianapolis School Enumeration ledger to our Members 3 Collection. This was a state-law mandated count of all the potential students within the Indianapolis city limits. The names are all either parents or guardians of the children counted in the ledger.
The city is divided up into 11 counting districts. We have put everything into four groupings and indexed them as you see below. Please note that these are only potential students; they may be public school enrollees, parochial or private school enrollees, or not even in school; they are marked if they are ages 6 to 21. African American families are also enumerated and indexed.
We placed this important database in our new "1890 Era Census Substitutes" section. We are the only genealogical society with these 15,000+ names indexed and within the city limits. You can come to our library next Wednesday and we will help you look for some of your folks.
