Lawrence Schools Mislay History

See the trunk at the bottom of this photo?
In the early 2000's there were 6 of these trunks stored in the old Lawrence Central HS building.
They contained dozens of ledgers recording schools data, like class registers, enumerations, teacher lists, and so forth.
We know this because GSMC volunteers inventoried them, and we copied some of the material for genealogists to use.
Then the Lawrence School system sold that building and moved all its contents somewhere
Last summer we had some free volunteer time, so we contacted them to see if we could
acquire them or scan them.
They agreed to give all the ledgers to us--Yay!--so we went to pick them up.
They had two trunks ready, so we took them to our library, processed the materials,
and  stocked them in our Lawrence Township section.

Problem: They can't find the other four trunks!

The school system stored these ledgers for over 100 years, they had them in 2004, they gave us two of them, and that's it?
Don't you think they would all be stored together? Wouldn't they all be in the same building?
-----------------
Does anyone out there have a connection with the MSD of Lawrence Township?
We really want these unique historical artifacts. HELP! HELP!
