If you have any 1812 veteran ancestors in the family, 

you should visit our library and go through this 270 page resource.

Published by National Geographic in 2012, 

it focuses on the naval aspects of that war.

[I used it to enhance my veteran's service for the Battle of Lake Erie.]

There are also great sections on Old Ironsides and the Star Spangled Banner,

and of course lots of material on the land war.
